Hyphen is looking forward to 2014! Upcoming projects include:
A new solo work in progress dedicated to my teachers Pearl Lang and Dudley Williams.
An excerpt of the work will premiere at the CoolNY Festival Jan 29-Feb 9 in Brooklyn.
The full work will then tour to Gallery Galleon in Vieques, Puerto Rico on March 19.
I will be creating a new work on and in collaboration with Dance Fremont Students later in March, and that's just the beginning...

Fire! the second work in Cabeen's New Realist Trilogy premiered at On the Boards in Seattle.
"a beautiful, steady-pulsed piece of work, propelled by a trance-inducing score…blurring the boundaries between capture and embrace"
Michael UpChurch, The Seattle Times, 1/17/13
"Riveting… an engrossing feast for the senses… a mysterious, wondrous universe that won’t be soon forgotten"

Cabeen also premiered Hair Trigger in Seattle in January. This lecture demonstration exploring femininity, objectification, and violence, then toured to Belfast, Ireland and Middlebury, VT, before returning to Seattle to inspire a youth dance composition workshop and performance created in collaboration with Dance Fremont in August.
In the Spring of 2013 Cabeen was honored to choreograph several scenes for the film Fall to Rise directed by Jayce Bartok, starring the stunning Desmond Richardson and Katherine Crockett.
During the blazing summer of 2013:
Ready Aim… and 5 Windows: On Dance and Oud were performed in 1:5 a dance festival at Baruch College.
Crystalizing Space was performed by Cabeen at the first annual Cape Dance Festival benefiting the Cape Cod AIDS action and support center.
Cabeen created Fractionation, a solo for Kathryn MacLellan that was performed in Cape Cod's Fleet Moves Festival, Brooklyn's Dumbo Dance Festival.
Cabeen was thrilled to collaborate with photographers Stacey Leece Vukelij and Alan Kimara Dixon.

Hyphen toured to Middlebury VT and Orono ME in October, sharing older repertory and premiering Break Up/Down/Through. This new work planted several seeds that will develop in the year to come into MetaKinetic, the third work in Cabeen's New Realist Trilogy.
