Into the Void was commissioned by On the Boards. Additional support for Into the Void was provided by 4 Culture. Crystallizing Space, the research and outreach phase of Into the Void conducted by Catherine Cabeen, was supported by the Seattle Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs.
Collaborators on Into the Void included composer Kane Mathis, dancers Germaul Barnes, Karena Birk, Echo Gustavson, Matthew Henley, Sarah Lustbader, costume designer Michael Cepress, lighting designer Connie Yun, artists Tivon Rice and Susan Robb.

Immaterial Sensibility, the opening solo from Into the Void, is currently touring and has been performed by Cabeen at the Visa2Dance Festival in Tanzania, Africa 2010, Joyce SoHo NY, NY 2011, and Bates Dance Festival’s Different Voices.

Chromatic Dispersion
Chromatic Dispersion is a collaboration between Cabeen and fashion designer Michael Cepress in which the costumes came first and the dance was then constructed around them.

Composites
Composites is a collaboration between Cabeen, writer Jay McAleer, and composer Julian Martlew that explores how the rhythm and phonetic structures in language can be transposed to the body. The choreography stems from a “phonetic movement vocabulary” that Cabeen created in response to McAleer’s text.

Segments
Segments was originally commissioned by Lehua Dance Theater and performed by Alex Goldstein in 2007. The piece was reworked for The A.W.A.R.D. Show! 2009 to incorporate a new, original score performed live by Kane Mathis.

Distances
Distances was originally commissioned by Moving People Dance in Santa Fe.
The work was created and performed by Catherine Cabeen and Echo Gustafson throughout New Mexico on a MPD program. When the work was performed in the 2011 Chop Shop a new score was commissioned from Kane Mathis and Julian Martlew, who now accompany Distances live in Hyphen.
